Help!

So, I recently received a letter from MHC telling me that I didn't send in an essay and a short answer two. After a few minutes of freaking out, I tried to rationally think about everything.

I applied online using the common application, which included an essay and a short answer. I also sent in the supplement that included yet another short answer (which they said they had received). Same thing goes with the graded writing sample (I think that covers all of the possible writing sections).

SO! I think that the essay and short answer they are talking about are the ones included in the common app. So, what does that mean!? I guess I could send an email and ask? O_O Has anyone else had this problem??? I really love MHC and don't want an incomplete application to be the reason I don't get in!

I suggest that you contact the admissions director for your area. You can find her/his contact information by checking the staff list at: http://www.mtholyoke.edu/adm/staff.shtml
Click on various staff members' names until you find the one for your area. At the bottom of each person's profile is an e-mail link.
Good luck!

I remember having the same problem when I applied last year. I called and I think the explanation was that if you apply with MHC's application (versus the common app) there is a short answer or two on there. But if you use the common app and complete the supplement and send in the writing sample then that covers everything. So as long as you submitted the common app, supplement, and everything that goes along with those you should be fine! Good luck!

Today I checked in my ISIS a/c, I found that "short ans 1" is missing. Oh, I really don't know why this happened. Previously, in my ED IsIS a/c, it was there clearly with the received date. But now...

Do they accept an email attachment for "short ans 1"? Who has the same problem?

I had filled the supp essay and commonapp all online, what sort of problem this is...their computer problem?

Rigor_col,
Please see my post (#2) above. I think you will be less stressed if you get the information and procedure directly from MHC rather that the CC Board. Besides, it will show them that you are keeping your eye on your ISIS account!

Anyway, I sent in my short ans through email as an attachment (txt) they accepted :)

This same problem happened to me too

Strangely enough, I applied Common App too and I did not have that problem.

This may happen cause we are deferred and they might be asking for "Short Ans One" for RD again ...seems like a good defer huh, just assuming!

barium, in regards to your question on one of the threads, I've not applied to Smith

drsuyi, did you submit it (short ans one)?

Hi, everyone, i don't know how your problems go for now, but I got this email and my problem solved

Thank you for your email.

I have checked your folder and find that both your Short Answers are here. I have corrected the computer so if you check ISIS now you will see that all your materials have been received. There is no special short answer for deferred students. There was just an error in posting your materials to the computer. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Sincerely,

yep, just an error as i supposed

I think we will all be admitted.
Did you actually submit a graded writing sample? I asked for the requirement to be waived, but today I received an e-mail asking me to submit an un-graded paper instead.

but I sent another one, cuz I wanted to use this "opportunity" to improve my short ans. and submitted another, they accepted...maybe this does not make any sense

Yep, I did submit graded sample. But, it contained couple of spelling errors (British vs US) and others too. I think I am the only one who submitted so much of errors in graded sample, possibly, that's why I got deferred

The graded sample was written in rush........................

Mine will be written in a rush as well...
Do you happen to know a good topic?

my graded sample was just a bunch of essays that I practised for SAT, they are all pretty well done, but who knows if they buy that or not..
