help?

Does anyone know the 4 year tuition cost at Boston University?
It'd be of huge help.
Thanks (:

Tuition 34930
Room 7100
Board 3850
Fees 488
Total 46368

Each year, that is. Multiply by four (duh).

Bigp9998, I assume that's next year's tuition. It will probably go up each year.

Jesus BU costs that much? I thought it was a public university...

lol, it isn't a public university.. it's private

BU and BC are both private, sorry. A few years ago BU got a lot of publicity for being the most expensive school in the country.

Lafalum:
Once a student enters most schools, they will lock in the rate of the first year and that is what you will pay all four years. Not the new rate each year. This does vary, of course. I don't know about BU in particular.

bigp9998, where did you get that information? I've never heard that, at least for private schools - you have to budget for the increases. There may be some prepayment plans that let you lock in the first year's tuition, but those are rare or are run by the state government.

lol, most schools allow even rich people to lock their first year's pay and just pay the same tuition every year..

Again, what's your source? Please give me the names of some of those schools.

I don't have one...except for my older brother...however, if you ask some people on here iam sure they could tell you.

bigp9998 and Sheed. I'm not sure where you got your info but that is NOT standard procedure at most schools. As Chedva says, there are many plans that will let you pay all 4 years tuition up front to lock in the rate, but most kids pay the new rate each year. None of the 6 schools my son applied to would lock in your rate unless you paid all 4 years up front (and several specifically prohibit kids getting financial aid from paying up front). I have many friends with kids in college, none of them has their tuition locked in for 4 years.

Now that I think about it, I heard Merrimac has a "first year tuition rate lasts 4 years" plan, but it's pretty unique. Champlain raised their rates by a huge percentage for next year, but gave existing students a $5,000 scholarship so their rates only go up a little bit.
