Ok, so I applied to Tulane for the School of Engineering.
I want to major in Biomedical Engineering.
I got accepted, but the letter said for Newcomb College!?
What is up with that?
My brother, who goes to Tulane, told me maybe it's because they filled up the spots for engineering students, so they bumped me to Newcomb.
What should I do about this, if I decide to go to Tulane. They gave me the DSA scholarship.
Should I just not worry about it, and just transfer to the engineering school like after 1st semester freshman year?

my guess is that since you are a young woman (right?), you are admitted to Newcomb college and the school of engineering. And, given the fact that you were awarded the DSA, I would say the school would really like you to metriculate, so I would not hesitate to call the admissions office and ask then "what's up with this?"

hmm, maybe. but it did clearly say, admitted to Newcomb College, with no mention about the School of Engineering. but yes, i will be sure to call them and ask if i do decide to matriculate.

Probably a clerical error, chickenlegs. I would call and find out for sure.

ok thanks!

Aren't all women admitted to Newcomb and men to Tulane b/c that is how advisement is done? I don't think it has any implications on major, but I may be mistaken.

If you are accepted into one of the professional schools, (engineering, architecture, and later on business) you are a student in that college alone. I'm not sure what happens if you double major accross college lines, but my son's academic advisors are in the college of engineering and so far, he has had no contact with Tulane college. If you are Arts and Sciences, however, you are Tulane or Newcomb.
