My parents are pressuring me to decide on where to go to college, and I have no idea!

I am an upcoming high school junior. I have a 4.3 on a 4.0 scale. I am vice president of our school's Diversity Club, corresponding secretary of History Club, and a member of Art Club (I will also join National Honors Society later this year). I participate in artistic roller skating, and practice about three hours everyday; with this I have won seven national and regional metals. For community service, I work as an assistant for my former chemistry teacher, I volunteer at the Michigan Humane Society every weekend, I teach a roller skating for beginners class, and when I turn sixteen I will start volunteering and job shadowing at the hospital near my house. Also, this summer I am completeing a medical careers exploration program at Michigan Tech; next summer I will do a study abroad or something.

Currently, I am looking for a college that has small class sizes, a great pre med program,a diverse student body, and that doesn't take a complete miracle for someone like me to get into. Any suggestions?

Ok first of all- artistic roller skating sounds really cool, and it could be a hook for admissions. It's unique and will make you stand out among applicants, so be sure to emphasize your involvement and success in it when you apply.

What part of the country do you want to go to college in?

Artistic roller skating really is an awsome sport. Kinda like figure ice skating except on roller skates and it's not in the Olympics (which really sucks). But we have Worlds and Nationals (nationals is in 2 weeks in Nebraska... I'm so excited).

So anyways, I live in Michigan... I am intersted in U Chicago, Rhodes, U Rochester, Brandeis, Wash in St. Louis, Northwestern, Colgate, Kenyon, and U Virginia... do you have any other suggestions?

That seems like a good list, for the qualities for which you are looking in a college. However, like many '09ers have been told, we really need test scores before we can place you somewhere. That 4.3 is weighted, correct?
Just make sure you take a handful of AP classes next year (3-4) and maintain that GPA and you will have many options from which to choose.

Your stats sound a lot like mine did a year ago (although I cannot say I have been priveleged enough to partake in artistic roller skating). I still have my 4.0 and a lot of the schools you listed are on my list. Junior year is your hardest, so keep up that 4.0! I guarentee it will pay off.

Your parents are right to pressure you into starting a list this early. You should focus on what these schools want and work to achieve/exceed that this upcoming year. Good luck!

Hey lexie glad to see you took my advice about this site =]
