Help!

Okay, this is a really kinda general question, but what do they expect?

What kinds of things do these prep schools REALLY want, in your opinion? do they prefer great grades and no extracurriculars, or vice versa? how much pull does the SSAT have? what do you think is the most important part of the application? (interview, recs, SSAT, etc.)

THANKS!

This question has been addressed MANY times and the answer always goes round and round. Here is a recent thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/403954-importance-aspects-applicant.html

thanks, that helped a ton!

They want:

Intelligent, sincere kids from every background with passions for the activities they pursue.

Well said, blairt.

And usually, they would expect that they do them well, peferably better than everyone in the country in their age division. :)

I know prettyckitty is kidding but, once again, I want to emphasize that not all the boarding schools in the States are high-powered, high-stakes, pressure cookers. My school is as proud of the kids we send to the University of Tennessee as the kids we send to Yale. Our mission is to educate kids who can't get the education they need or want in their hometowns - not to be a minor league for the Ivies.

Haha, diversity in all aspects of each student.

True. I was having an Andover Demension moment. :)

ugh. don't say that! i'm applying to Andover.

You who started that thread about importance in aspects of applicant. Me. I feel so special when i'm quoted or my thread is recomended. So quote away.
