How can I justify this to my parents:
I think my college decision is going to come down to Pennsylvania (Wharton) vs. Georgetown (McDonough). They are both similar in cost and I think my parents would prefer that I go to Wharton. However, I think Georgetown is where I want to go. I was accepted EA and ever since it has been growing on me, I'm not really sure why.
I know Wharton is tops but I don't know if I can handle the competition and would kind of rather go somewhere a little less competitive. Also, I think I'll study international business, which would be good in DC.
What are the things that distinguish Georgetown and Penn (social, academic, everything)? Things that make Georgetown better?
Note: I'm not even accepted at Penn (knock on wood). Would I be completely remiss, though, to give up Wharton?
Ahhh help me!

you could always go to wharton for grad school

who's paying for college?

my parents mostly, maybe a little bit me. plus financial aid.
the other thing is, i don't know if it's worth it for me to give up penn to go to georgetown. is it? (besides "do what makes you happy", etc)

Both are really great, but I have to admit that Wharton is more respected in the business world. Of course, you should visit both campuses once accepted and seriously evaluate both for the right 'fit.' Also, consider which school you'd regret NOT going to. If that's Georgetown, then you should go to Georgetown.

On the up side, as of yet, you don't have to worry yourself with it. Admissions is a crapshoot even with top-notch statistics so you may not have to make that hard choice.

is it redundant to visit places twice? i've visited both but i agree that it might help to go back.

Definitely try to go back for the GAAP weekend. I had already visited Georgetown before I was accepted EA, but going back definitely convinced me that Georgetown was where I really wanted to go more than anywhere else.

is it bad that i need to be convinced to go somewhere? :)
