portfolio in progress
gpa:93 (approx 3.7)
sat: R 540, W 650, M 690 (gonna take it again)
in various clubs (about 10)
I manage the sound board for almost all school events held in the auditorium including any school plays, concerts, etc.</p>
<p>What I would suggest is to keep working on the portfolio and to keep the GPA up and def take the SAT again. Maybe concentrate on the clubs most important to you, 10 is a lot, but if you're active in all of them that's great.
After that I suggest you look into and understand the differences of 4+2 and 5 year programs. And after that start visiting the schools to really get a good understanding of what they offer undergrad and if it matches what you want to do in architecture.</p>
<p>have you taken the time to visit any of these schools? if so, i'd stick to applying to ones that you could see yourself at for 4 years. the school environment and the teacher-student and student-student dynamics are really important.</p>
<p>Im a high school junior and I have pretty good grades. Im in all honors and AP but im not very well informed on all the architecture schools out there. im looking more towards architectual design. Drafting and designing buildings, residential and commercial. But i also love music, play the clarinet and im learning the soprano sax, so i want a school that also has a decent music program. Any ideas?? please!! =]</p>
<p>Louis =] , I'm also a junior who loves both arch and music. I play guitar, trumpet, and violin and have been active in our music community(I'm from nashville, and my dad's a recording engineer...so it's not hard). Anyway, Carnegie Mellon is a great arch school with a great music program (if you've got the grades).</p>
<p>Hey louis and jaker, Cal Poly SLO has a decent orchestra (though not as good as CMU). There is also USC, and Rice Uni has the Shepherd School of Music (phenomenal)</p>
<p>Yep, I agree with some of what was said. Decide if you want to study architecture loosely, or if you want to receive the Bachelor of Architecture. Also, I mean school stats are important but also think about the artistic portion of it, because many of the top notch architecture schools require a portfolio and alot of the schools of strong architecture programs (such as the Cooper Union, RISD, and Carnegie Mellon to name a few) rely alot on the portfolio.</p>
<p>Also when preparing the portfolio all the schools are looking for are drawing basics. at many of the schools, freshman year you tend to practice basic drawing techniques. The portfolio usually requires an array, emphasizing still-life, self portraits (literal and figurative), and interior/exteriors. Keep in mind there are also home tests</p>
