Hi guys, I'm a rising junior and i've been thinking and trying to prepare for college since the ninth grade. But after reading everyone's stats i feel really discouraged and slightly depressed because my life dream is to get accepted to Cornell and from what i'm seeing it wont happen with the stats that i've got. I've wanted to go there forever, and will do ANYTHING to make it a possibility!!! So, I really need some help and serious input on what I should do to make myself a viable candidate. Okay here goes:
I'm African-American, and I live in New York City
I attend a performing arts school majoring in voice and have four musical classes a day. (just so you get an idea: voice, music theory, chorus, etc)
My grades are okay, 90 gpa all honors classes sophomore, year none freshman year. junior year i will only be taking ONE AP (because my school is suffering from budget cuts and has lots of students) in AP Bio my first and only AP
Freshman and Sophomore year I did varsity Fencing. (will continue)
Freshman and Sophomore year I did the Debate Team (will continue)
Sophomore year i was accepted into ARISTA the schools national honor society
Freshman year:
I took a class on how to care for/ babysit children with special needs. (certified :p)
I was accepted into an internship with The Museum of Natural History for the summer
I also was a volunteer for Visions Services for the Blind or Visually impaired.
Sophomore year:
I was accepted into HPREP at Weill Medical College of Cornell University where i received a special award for perfect attendance :p
I am spending my summer volunteering/interning (which is better for an app) at Orphans International Worldwide
I also applied for College Now and was placed on the waitlist which was a HUGE blow since that was where i expected to get my college credits from. I was accepted in the fall for writing but I want to do something science related.
I'm also prepping for the SAT this summer. no professional help yet just by myself
AM I DOOMED??? Please help, any insight will be greatly appreciated. And i apologize for the lengthiness.
BTW i want to go to Cornell's college of human ecology and major in human biology health and society(pre-dent)

it's ok you're doing fine so far
keep up the ECs, especially if you can find some sort of underlying thread that can tie them all together and paint a picture of what your passions are
don't worry about your lack of APs or anything, especially if it's because your school simply doesn't offer them- colleges just want to see you doing the best you can, given the circumstances

any idea where you fall in terms of class rank/GPA in your school? that'll play a pretty big role...as will doing reasonably well on your SATs (you don't need to get a 2400, but something which places you in Cornell's middle 50% would be very solid)

Okay, I have to say that it really is sad that your life dream is to go to Cornell. Sounds like you're doing fine. I wish you wouldn't stress out so much. You're only an incoming junior. I don't see why you're wondering whether you're doomed. Whether you're doomed or not, you're still going to apply, so I don't really get it.
