Help!

My computer crashed ten minutes before the deadline. So I unfortunately submitted my Chicago Supplement one minute late. I submitted it successfully, but the webpage shows it was submitted Jan. 3. My Common Application was submitted on time. Will this hurt my admissions by any chance? If yes, what should I do?
Thank you!

I can't profess to know any specifics about the policies of U(C) itself, but I hear that most schools are somewhat accepting of "barely" late applications. This may be completely wrong or inapplicable to Chicago, but it's something to consider if you're hyperventilating.

And you may have already thought of this, but are you in the Eastern Time Zone like the CommonApp, or a more western one? Chicago bases its "time of application" on your specific zone, so if it's not Jan. 3 where you are, you made it. If it is, then we're back to the first paragraph.

I say relax: you sent it and it's done. I offer you a virtual hug as a fellow applicant and hope the process works out!

I didn't know that the Common App. was in Eastern Time. I'm in the Central Time Zone (I live in Chicago) and I submitted all my materials at exactly 11:50 PM tonight, but it says that it was submitted on Jan. 3. So....I'm safe right?

You should be fine. I know during the EA cycle a few people had similar problems and it ended up being a non-issue.

Charmi: Chicago stated it was 1/2/09 in your time zone so no worries.

yeah. Not to encourage late deadlines or anythig.. but I submitted my Yale one a whole hour late. I called admissions... they don't seem to care about admission time. As long as commonapp accepts it, you're fine.

Last year, they took the position that an application would be timely if it was still the due date anywhere in U.S. territory. They used "Baker Island Time" -- some time zone in the Western Pacific. It was cute. The Common App makes it difficult to do that, but I think it indicates that the admissions office at Chicago is not hyperpicky about when applications are submitted. And since the Common App site itself seems to be experiencing nightly issues, I don't think anyone is going to be hyperpicky.

Thank everybody for your answers! I feel a lot secure now. I have just received a confirmation email from Common App saying my supplement is successfully submitted. So is it a conformation saying I am fine?
