Just yesterday my college counselor (privately hired) told me that 1.5 years of my high school wasn't approved. I go to an online based high school and the courses weren't submitted to the UC system for approval; thus none of my courses were approved for the duration I have been attending this school. I'm a junior right now and I have two options:

1) Go back to high school and repeat 1.5 years of high school again...I would graduate high school with 5.5 years.
2) Take the California High School Proficiency Exam and go to junior college my senior year.

Which option would be better? I really don't know what to do so any suggestions would be nice. I really want to go to USNA but I don't know how much this hurt my chances.

To become scholastically qualified for USNA, you need to demonstrate that you are prepared to succeed there. I am not a BGO, nor am I connected to the USNA CGO, but here are a few points to consider:

-Which option would give you access to the most challenging academic schedule? USNA is looking for ways to determine whether applicants can handle the academics at USNA.
-Would staying in HS or going to JC give you better opportunities to participate in sports, or to have leadership positions in sports or other ECAs? Your whole person score is based on more than just academics.

You might want to consider contacting your local BGO to discuss your options.

Hmmm.

This is a first for me.
would suggest contacting your BGO if you have one.
If you do not, call USNA admissions and see if they can guide you to the best person to speak to.

CGO is probably a better bet that your BGO. I’m not sure how they evaluate on-line schools in terms of accreditation, etc. Your BGO can only tell you what he/she thinks; CGO will tell you what they will actually do.

Homeschoolers do not get a diploma in our state; diplomas are only given when students graduate from an accredited high achool. Often homeschoolers will transfer into a public high school during their senior year in order to get the diploma.

Have you checked into transferring into your local HS as a “homeschooler”? While they often will not give you the GPA, they may give you the HS credits you took. Did you take any standardized tests? That may help.

Have you discussed the situation with a School counselor at your local public (or private) HS to see what can be done? If not, that would be my first suggestion.

Colleges frequently admit students who were homeschooled. You might want to connect with a homeschooling group in your area to get further information.
Good Luck
