Okay, I live in NY. I got Pell Grant and TAP, using my father's address, when i am still living with him.

However, certain events occurred and I've just currently moved out, all before my enrollment to college in September. I have a question now though; will I still be entitled for my Pell and TAP even after the address change? I recall a topic about this person stating that he/she uses his/her father's address to apply for FAFSA or some sort of grants but he/she does NOT live with him. I believe our difference is that I lived with my father while I apply [even after I got approvals from both Pell and FAFSA] but he/she did not.

I need help because of certain events that need official procedures and I want to make sure my money stays. Thanks in advance.

You should be fine. You filed the FAFSA and TAP apps based on 2008 info. Sounds like the other poster you read either filed with the wrong parent’s info or wasn’t living with either parents. Even if a dependent student doesn’t live with a parent, they’re still required to file FAFSA with the parent’s info.

sk8rmom is right. Although you’ve moved out, you’re still considered a dependent student (it’s pretty difficult to fulfill the requirements for independent student, even IF you wanted to) And as a dependent student, you’re obliged to file with parental info, which you did, correctly.

Thank you I am so worried that I would get affected and this will affect my financial aid. Phew! So next year I fill up according to my new address right?

Did you move out of NY state? I’m wondering if that might affect the awarding of the TAP monies.

takeshieki, next year you’ll have to file with your parent’s info as well if you’re still a dependent student (under 24, unless you meet one of the special requirements for independent student status).

Nope, still in NY, just moved out and living somewhere else in NY. I know my TAP is still there. Thanks for the info sk8rmom, I an relieved. I will continue to file in my parents info next year.
