<p>I was doing some research on UCLA's website and came across this article:</p>

<p>I was planning on applying as an Art History major. Does this mean UCLA is no longer offering Art History as a major?</p>

<p>By the looks of it, they no longer offer the Art History/History Interdepartmental major. This major is separate from the Art History major so you’re fine. </p>

Further, over time the History/Art History Major has been seen as less rigorous than the Art History Major, specifically in the former’s absence of language requirements. As such, the departments of History and Art History have moved to disestablish this Program.</p>

<p>Those students interested in combining courses in History and Art History may consider a Major in one of the two academic disciplines and a minor in the other, or a double major in History and Art History.

<p>After looking through UCLA’s Art History department website, it looks like the above link you posted only applies to people applying to the History/Art History interdepartmental program, which is a special program that combines history & art history courses. However, if you’re applying as an Art History major, this doesn’t apply to you. You’ll be able to be admitted as an Art History major.</p>

<p>Looks like the Art History Department is still accepting applicants as usual. It’s only the History/Art History Interdepartmental Program that no longer accepts applicants, not the actual Art History major. You’re good. :)</p>
