Help!

I am a high school senior. I attended a private school for my freshman through junior year. My parents were not able to afford it anymore because of the economy. My parents still owe a balance of the tuition that they will not be able to pay off before my senior year is over. Therefore, the school is withholding my transcript. The public school was able to enroll me in classes but the issue is with college. I want to attend a 4 year university I must take a GED to become accepted because I don't have a transcript. Is there any possible way I can take a GED and still finish taking classes at the public school even though I won't recieve a diploma? Because I want to complete my senior year but I want to enroll in college, too. Do I have any other options?

Thanks for your future help!

If it were me I would probably forget the GED, finish school, and wait for my parents to take care of the outstanding balance so my transcripts would be released. I would work or volunteer in the meantime. Other people may have drastically different opinions, but personally that’s what I would do.

I don’t think you would be able to continue taking classes if you get the GED, someone will have to correct me if I am wrong.

Have you or your parents consulted a lawyer? You may be able to force the school to release at least a student copy of your transcript. If your parents have declared bankruptcy then there may be other protections. Good luck.
