Help

I was just rejected from Northwestern… do i have any chance at being accepted into Brown!!! I really thought I would be accepted to NW

In the exact same boat…wish i could offer more reassurance, but unfortunately im in panic mode as well right now! :frowning: Maybe…our rejection is a sign? That we’re meant for bigger and better things? Lol, wishful thinking, but we can dream  At least till april first…

Yeah i guess that’s true… One of my best friends got into Georgetown and UChicago, and she got the Boettcher scholarship (a full ride for any school in Colorado), yet, she was waitlisted at WashU in St. Louis… She’s extremely qualified, and is probably going to Princeton (once she gets in, which she will)… Maybe we’re the same way… Destined for bigger and better things :)

Haha don’t regard WashU as an indicator of anything.

Anyway - I wish you guys all the luck in the world!
College admissions is weird, especially this year with the applications going through the roof. Anything can happen! ( :

wait, are you from CO if your friend’s getting the boettcher??? Cause that would be crazy =)

yup… Denver :)

Crazy! Im from the springs! What are the odds… :)

Waitlisted at WashU and Middlebury, Rejected from MIT and Stanford. Is there any hope left?

Yes!!! There is always hope =) You just have to keep your fingers crossed that this adcom sees how truly wonderful you are ;)

Wonderful? Oh no, I’m awesome. I think. A little creativity gets you a long way at Brown.

It was truly a miracle I got waitlisted at Middlebury too. My application had several…errors to speak of.

As a Stanford reject, I’m hoping Brown’s admissions might look at my application in a slightly different light.
Think about it this way, all of these schools receive thousands of extremely qualified applications and can only take a fraction of them. Just because one school doesn’t take you, doesn’t mean you are completely hopeless. And even if you don’t end up at Brown, I’m sure you’ll find happiness at whatever college you end up at.

lol yeah, that’s what i keep telling myself. Plus, i used the Questbridge app for NU, and my essays for brown are much stronger and more creative, so im hoping that might make a difference. EEK! Only three days now, so i guess we’ll find out soon enough

cellochick92 – son is also applying to brown and we are in the Springs. small world!

Haha really??? No kidding!! What school?

He actually attended an international boarding school in the UK and is doing a gap year right now. We live 2 blocks from Colorado College, so Palmer is the closest to us. Where do you go?

hahaha wow, im actually at palmer!! :)

My friend got waitlisted at cornell but accepted at brown and columbia

im curious. did u get accepted or no?

I applied to eleven schools total. Three safety schools that I got into, three mid-level ( Worcester Polytech[accepted], Boston University [accepted], and Northeastern U [waitlisted]), and five long shots which included Brown, MIT, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton. I applied MIT early and was deferred, which actually left me optimistic since I was at least worth another look. Then I got denied to MIT and wait listed to Northeastern in the same day (let’s talk about pessimism!). Finally, I got denied to four of my five long shots. Happily, I was accepted to Brown. So, my point is, college admissions seems to be a free for all. Personally, I’d like to do a work study in the admissions office, or do what Matt McGann of MIT did (graduate with ridiculous loans, then become an admissions officer, in his case asst. director), yeah that’d be cool…

But I digress- anythings possible!

Glad to hear, good for you.
me:
Accepted: Bowdoin, UF, UM, FSU, etc
Rejected (all long shots): Yale, Duke, Emory
Waitlist (long shot): Brown

How very odd! Bowdoin with a 19% acceptance rate accepts me and Emory with 30% rejects me??

College admissions are really random.
