Helpful resources for prospective students

Congratulations to everyone accepted to Northeastern! I have noticed a lot of people have similar questions, so I thought that I would pull together some useful links from the Northeastern University website to help out. Feel free to add to the list!

The calendar for next academic year: http://www.northeastern.edu/registrar/cal1415-ugd-s.pdf

The course catalog, which has links to the requirements of every major and minor offered: http://www.northeastern.edu/registrar/courses/welcome1314.html

The Husky Card website, which provides information about meal plans and locations where you can use your dining dollars: http://www.northeastern.edu/huskycard/index.html

Search for and look at courses offered by the university: https://wl11gp.neu.edu/udcprod8/NEUCLSS.p_disp_dyn_sched

A virtual tour of campus if you can't make it in person: http://www.youvisit.com/northeastern

Information about freshman housing: https://www.northeastern.edu/reslife/firstyear/index.html

Information about the co-op program:
(And specifically, about 4 vs. 5 years: http://www.northeastern.edu/neuhome/experiential-learning/co-op-faq.html)
(And international co-op options: http://www.northeastern.edu/internationalcoop/)

Also, if you haven't checked it out, there is a lot of information on the Admitted Students page: http://www.northeastern.edu/admittedstudents/

If there is anything else that you can't find on the Northeastern site that you're looking for, I might be able to help. After 4 years, I've become pretty well acquainted with where information like to hide.

In the Northeastern viewbook there are several graphics that clearly show the various possible arrangements of school, coop, research etc. across the semesters and summer sessions. Oddly, these graphics are not on the website, as far as I can determine. If you have the viewbook, you should take a look at it.

Several posters have asked about this. While going to school in the summer turns some people off, you will get used to it.

I was looking for something like that as well and came up empty. It is weird that they don’t have that anywhere online.

Here’s an example for biochemistry. It’s not general, but it may still be useful to show the variety of options: http://nuweb5.neu.edu/biochemistry/advising/sample-schedules/

this page on the registrar site outlines courses of study for each major - including different co-op cycles
