Hi all, I’ve been seeing a lot of people asking whether or not they will be able to get in, the requirements et cetera. I decided I would put together some tips in order for you guys to understand how this works. I remember, I was once in your shoes.
-
During your application, write something your passionate about not what you think is the easiest or ‘right’ one. Because once it is a topic you are passionate about, it also becomes easy. If you decide to go for what you think is ‘right’ (according to admissions) then what you write will most likely sound pretentious and practiced.
-
During your interview, remember that the person you are talking with is a human as well and may or may not have been in the same shoes that you currently are in. They have their worries too and so if you demonstrate confidence then I assure you, even they will stumble with their words. Try to be the dominant one. Don’t pressure yourself into thinking, ‘oh no I got a mean or a bad one,’ because that opinion is relative. As in, depending on what kind of a day they are having, how tired they are, what they did over the weekend can affect their attitude towards you during the interview. So remember don’t take anything personally and act professional.

REMEMBER: don’t forget to wear nice clothes, it shows you care. ALSO, I guarantee the interviewer will say something at the beginning of the interview that will bring your hopes down or something. What I mean is, even if they say something negative, remember not to bring your guard down and don’t let it get to you. Whether it is that you’re applying late or if it is because you got a bad score on your SSAT. They are purposely checking for your reaction. ALSO MAKE EYE CONTACT.
Thank you and if you want me to write more, then just ask. If there are any specific areas you want me to answer, just ask again. I’m sorry if I missed anything or if most of you disagree. Just thought I would help.
