Thanks Soozie, great list! Singersmom, I think they’re both in good territory GPA wise. But, overall, I am glad I didn’t have to deal with VA as my instate school–tough crowd!!!

A friend of my D was admitted into JMU’s music industry program. She has joined a performance group for a year and is deferring admission. She was very impressed with the program when she visited. My D will be there in the fall majoring in voice.

A friend of the family is at JMU in music industry and still performs in the operas and other productions at the school. She really likes it.

Garland, I came this thread/information. Here was some information from Marny:

I live right in the vicinity of Five Towns its on Long Island in New York. Its an interesting place that centers on music majors of all kinds, including music biz.
It does employ faculty connected to industry in New York City. Its a relatively new school and I’m not sure what its rep is in relation to other programs/colleges. Also be aware it has very limited dorm space and the apt rental market here on LI is outrageously expensive.

One other school we looked at was UMass Lowell. Their program and facilities were quite nice. Even out of state tuition is more reasonable than some private schools. My son just graduated in the music industry program at Northeastern and is now job hunting.
