Helpp Please..Lookin for some insight

Hey guys, Im new here so It would be so kind of you to help me out here...

I have a series of questions and I'm soo worried n confused about college..I would appreciate if ppl would answer my questions...

I am currently a Senior in a pretty bad neighborhood school. It isn't very strong in academics. except they have a special Magnet program that I am in. And I don't have a strong academic record so I'm unsure of what to expect.

I have a 3.7 weighted GPA. And 1580 (New SAT)
550 SAT 2 in History and Literature

My Ec's are
-Vice President of Chess Club 11th/12th (member 9th/10th)
-Founder/President of Philosophy Club 11th/12th
-World Treaty Organization Embassador
-200 Hrs volunteer at local hospital
-Youth Group Director of American Arts Council Association.
(5 hrs volunteer/wk)
-League Baskbetball for 4 years.

Btw..I took all honors courses, but no AP's except for two college courses. Now in 12th im taking another college course..political science.
Also my class rank is at about 11-12%

I would appreciate it if you guys would answer my questions in this order...

1.) I am applying to all UC's, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount, Occidental, and a couple of Cal State safety schools. What are my realistic chances at each UC and each given private school? I am not to fond of UCR/UCD/or UCSC(too far from home).

2.) Does it help that I'm in a magnet program? I noticed they have a special box to check-mark on the application. Does it help in admissions?

3.) Is their any other "good" University in Southern or Mid-California or surrounding states in which I have a decent shot at?

Thanks for your help!

Somebody please?

SexxyBritney909:

UCB/UCLA: Super Reach
UCSD: Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Slight Reach
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Match

So slight reach would mean I have a good chance?

I checked the UC stats and UCSB UCI ect have average stats that are all higher than mine..so does slight reach mean a pretty good chance?

Actually, Slight Reach means you have more of a bad chance at getting in.
Match would imply a good chance.

what about santa clara

How about my chances for the Private Universities I mentioned?

Loyola Marymount - Match
Occidental - Reach
Pepperdine - Are you involved and active in the Christian Right? Match if so, reach if not.

For other universities, you have good matches at the University of San Diego, University of the Pacific, University of the Redlands, Santa Clara University, Chapman University.
