hi everyone im new here

so im applying for transfer to all the ivies, wharton plus georgetown and northwestern

i have written pretty good essays but i think i have a slim chance

came from horrible high school
hs gpa: 3.85
tennis captain, NHS, science club VP

SATs: 1840/2400

im in business school but iwanna do a psych major instead; sophomore applying for junior transfer

college gpa: 3.6
EC's: president of org, founded an org and worked on a proposal with the dean, tennis varsity, church volunteer, school newspaper editor, officer in another org,
did an internship last summer

good rec's from 2 deans (one was my teacher and the other was for the statement of good standing) and another from a prof who's a penn alumni.. my essays are pretty good too..

let me know what you think pleasse

Your college record and ECs sound impressive, but I think your SAT scores will lower your chances - is there any way you can retake them or are you applying for 2008?

applying for 2008 shet

btw, i came from a different country 5 years ago.. does that help? i included that (in my essay) and not knowing about what SATs were lol

I hope it does as I have a similar situation (grades 1-5 in US, 6-12 in UK). I think that US school applicants have been practically groomed for the SAT (syllabus + practice tests) and that this puts people who have been educated elsewhere at a disadvantage, particularly for SAT II.

As long as you explain anything that might be considered a disadvantage (eg why you now want to do psychology instead of business), and promote the fact that you will contribute to diversity, I suspect that your scores will be balanced out.

I'm sorry I can't give you specific chance estimations for your colleges as I do not know them well, but I recommend going to
p r i n c e t o n r e v i e w . c o m (take out spaces)
and using their college finder as they give you a really good list of colleges after entering your stats separated into safeties, matches, and reaches.
