hello, long time reader on the boards, first time poster

Just to give some backup information, I am a community college student that will finish both an associates in arts and associates in science by the end of 2009. After all this time I still haven't decide what school I should go to.

So far I have been accepted to:

Depaul University- Chicago
Loyola University - Chicago
Iowa State University
Northern Illinois University
Northeastern Illinois University
Seattle University
Middle Tennessee University - Murfreesboro

I am majoring in chemistry, but still haven't decided if its 100% fully what I would like to do. That is why I essentially got 2 associates degrees to keep my options open. I want a diverse community since I'm filipino and have grown up in 90% predominantly black communities then moved to the suburbs where its 90% predominantly white communities. Personally, loyola would have been my first pick, however, I kind of want to go out of state and experience new things. All my friends went to depaul/loyola and not that i mean i want to get away from them, it is just i want a different life experience then seeing the same people i know all the time.

Seattle University seems tempting, I am going to fly to check out the campus next month. Only thing that kind of bothers me (not a big deal, but just a thought) is capital hill is right next to the University. I've been told because of that, the school will take some time getting used to because a few students are extremely liberal. I dont think it will bother me, but just something I don't know if i should believe or not

thanks for your help :)

go to Seattle University!

I live in Memphis a few hours away from Murfreesboro, and I have to say that I’ve been impressed with MTSU over the last few years. I think it’s one of the up-and-coming universities in the state. I’d give it serious consideration.

Actually, on virtually EVERY campus there will be some students who are radically liberal, so don’t let that stop you from going to Seattle U… :)

If you prefer to align yourself with some more conservative students, certainly the college has some clubs that are more right-leaning …such as the Young Republicans, the pro-life group/Respect Life group, and such. :)

Have you also considered Loyola Marymount in LA…or Santa Clara? (the weather would be better…LOL )

ill be honest with you, only reason i applied to MTSU is because my parents made me since my cousin goes there. I visited it one time, it just seemed too much of a commuter college and a lack of a urban city leaves me not wanting to go there.

Might i add every single person there wore polo t shirts, the diversity is not apparent. Out of my cousins like 20-30 friends I met, he was the only one not white. (Not trying to be racist, but like i said, i like diversity)

I never checked the other 2 schools you mentioned… how is it there? I was always afraid to check any colleges in california just because of the prices.

bump, which school is more prestigious? or are they all lower tier schools?

DePaul, Loyola, Iowa State and Seattle University are the best schools on your list, if you want a big public school then go to Iowa State, if not then I would go to Seattle University

i take it you have been or know someone that went to seattle university?

how is it? I am planning to take a tour but i heard the dorms can’t be seen.

does it really rain a lot at seattle?

i am just somewhat conflicted about the school size and lack of school spirit. I am a social person but reading that spring break is pretty much a deadzone kind of makes me wonder if i can make a lot of friends there

also is the guy to girl ratio really 4:6 and half the guys are gay? Not really a big deal, just think i might have trouble finding a legit boxing gym around there if so heh
