Does anyone know anything about these schools? (location, academics, social life, Greek life etc) We live in the northeast and these came up as possible matches for my son. Unfortunately, we probably can not visit. Any help would be appreciated...

I would say Hendrix and Centre are very strong academically. Belmont is okay, unless for music, where it is excellent.

PR says Hendrix is located in a “dry” county, 30 minute ride to buy alcohol.
55% female, 45% male, No greek life, 83% live on campus, 46% out of state.

“college is a sleeper, and is an especially good bet for students with strong grades who lack the test scores necessary for admission to colleges on a higher level of selectivity.”

“small classes, no one cheats, lab facilities are great.”

I’m hoping for the opposite with Hendrix. That higher test scores and geographic diversity will help. Son is not sure how he feels about Arkansas. GC says that the admit % is incorrect and is actually much lower. I’ll have to find out from school.

They might not get many applicants from your state, so that is a plus & there is the “gender card.”

There’s a school called Hendrix? Never knew that. Well if you do decide to go there, make sure you travel by dragonfly.

good one - Godfatherbob!

Transylvania is a cool school. It’s like the oldest university west of the Appalachians. I think a few fraternities were founded there. Interesting history.
