Hendrix College - Average 27 ACT and 3.7 GPA

http://www.collegeprofiles.com/hendrix.html

On the left hand side of the page, it says that the average score for new Freshman on the ACT is a 27 and the average GPA is 3.72

If my ACT is a 29 or 30, and my GPA is a 3.30 - 3.40, should I have a decent shot at getting accepted?

It also says:
Number who applied:
920
Number accepted:
812

It also says they have about a hundred more girls than guys, and since I'm a guy, should that give me an advantage?

Your chances are great! The college accept almost 90% of its applicants. You GPA is a bit low, but your ACT score should make up for that.

I'm going to be a sophomore at Hendrix this fall and I am pretty sure that you would get in. They might even throw you little scholarship if you have some EC's to go with that.

Can you give examples of "EC's"?

EC's = extra credits?

you most likely won't have a problem getting in if you get those scores.

EC's= extracurriculars.

I'm certain beyond a doubt that I will get a minimum of a 29.

Yeah well, I'm wanting to go to Hendrix pretty badly because they supposedly have a great engineering program and deal with Vanderbilt. I heard from my brother that that all undergraduates of engineering at Hendrix get to go to Vanderbilt automatically for their graduate degrees....And that sounds great to me.

extracurriculars is one word, lol. So I guess that's why I didn't think of that.

Well I have a job and play baseball for my high school, so hopefully those are some positives.

Since you thought EC's meant Extra Credit, I am beginning to have my doubts.

"EC" implies that there are two words.

The only two word combination related to academics that I thought of was 'extra credit'.

'Extracurricular' is one word, so if you're intuitively trying to think of two words, that shouldn't come into mind.

....And yes, I realize the reason why 'EC' is used for 'Extracurricular', but because I'm not a forum regular, and just didn't think of that.

My sincere apologies to you, sir.

Plus, I'm heavily a math and science person, so........you get the picture.

Wow- a nearly 90% acceptance rate.
You should have no problem getting in- just because you're gpa is below the average, it doesn't mean it's too low to be accepted.

Yep, and I think they're ranked something like 66th best liberal arts colleges in the nation?

My absolute worse case scenario is an ACT of 28 and a GPA 3.25

Both of those, however, are extremely unlikely; I'd have to only improve one point on the ACT (after only taking it once as a sophomore without prep so far), and my GPA would have to drop slightly instead of rise (it's a a 3.30 right now).

So even if my worst case scenario were true, with a 90% acceptance rate and an average ACT of 27 and GPA of 3.72, I should still easily get in?
