HEOP Avg gpa

Hi,
I understand that Columbia admits students through the heop program who are academically and economically disadvantaged. I meet the economic requirements but does anyone know what is the middle range of g.pa and avg sats. I'd love to hear from past heop students who were admitted, and what sort of grades they look at the heop program

I have been asking this same question and no response... anyone please???

that probably means there are no students on this board that have the knowledge to answer that. call columbia or something

i called and no direct answer.

what is heop?

I also called and they said there is no set number for GPA cut off for HEOP

So can someone admitted to HEOP from a previous year please post their stats?

Thanks & Good Luck Everyone... Hope we all receive admit letters

I believe I qualify, so do I just apply?

Are you guys looking for a back door into Columbia?

Shawty, no, you should not apply.

nogardder, I don't know specifics of HEOP but how is it a back door if Columbia has a legitimate program to accept people that are part of HEOP? Maybe they didn't attend a private or boarding high school but they did get into Columbia. And that's that.

nogardder:

back door? lol nice one... a bit caustic... don't you concur?

anyways my parents instilled in me the notion to aim for the best. I am not trying to take someelse's spot who has worked hard but I myself have worked hard and I feel that if there is an opportunity for me to be admitted to a school as great as Columbia why not?

Forgive me for wanting to better myself. I'm doing wat I gotta do. Sorry

Good luck with your admissions!

Backdoor? Can we please put the insecurity away? Thanks.

HEOP is a New York State (I believe) program for severely economically disadvantaged students.

And if you think it's a backdoor consider this- my CC professor got through Columbia undergrad thanks to HEOP, got into a Columbia PhD program, graduated, and is teaching while working on his first book. I guarantee you that a significant portion of whoever you might consider 'deserving' admits won't be accomplishing that much.

Drop the 'tude.

i heard people who got into heop already heard fom Columbia, is this true? (they received papers for income verification and etc)
