HEOP for NYU class of 2022

So, I applied ED for NYU and I got an email from them saying that I’m being considered for HEOP/CSTEP. But here’s the thing, on my common app I didn’t say I wanted HEOP or CSTEP and I’m not eligible because of my dad’s income. Would they still consider me if my dad’s income is 15k above the requirement? Do I even have a chance at getting in now since they possible rejected me from regular admission?

If you don’t mind me asking when did you get the email?

Anyone else is going to the information session next week Tuesday?

@“DOMAWFL.” Thursday

Has anyone else who applied ED1 and HEOP received a email regarding heop???

Hi can I asked when did you receive an email for early decision heop?

@rojanneh did you do ED1 or 2? Because for ED1, they sent it out in November and we all found out the 15th of December if we got in or not. I suggest calling to see when emails about HEOP interviews come out for NYU

did anyone apply ED2 to NYU HEOP?

I did early decision 2

Did anyone of you guys for ED 2 receive an email for an information session regarding heop

Yeah, I got an email for the information session and group interview.

@Nothingmean00 when did you get the email?

@panda1004 I got the email on Jan 23rd but I applied ED II

@Nothingmean00 I applied ED 2 as well but I haven’t heard back from them yet. What were ur stats if u don’t mind sharing.

@panda1004
92 GPA
1300 SAT
A couple of good EC’s
Great essay and recs
Applied to Stern

I asked a couple of people their SAT scores at the info session and most scored in the 1100s, so I am not sure how SAT score and GPA play a role in the admission process. I believe as long as you’re in a certain range they stop caring about SAT and GPA and look at other stuff.

Hello! I received an email from NYU stating that I was part of a group of students being considered for HEOP, but I am far from being eligible financially. I am in a family of 5, and I believe the income for that is around $30k, but my parents make well above that. I signed up for the interview anyway, but why would they send me an email if I was not qualified? They have my FAFSA and CSS profile too.

^ I also did not indicate on my commonapp that I wanted to be considered for it either.

@anniehhh The admissions officers decided for you to be consider because it will give you higher chances going through a program. Btw when is the interview?

@anniehhh For a person in a family of 5, the income qualification is actually around 52k. From what I understand they are pretty strict about the income thing. You may have accidentally indicated that you wanted to be considered for HEOP or they made a mistake. Also, NYU financial aid office has ur FAFSA and CSS profile, not the HEOP program. That is why they ask u to bring a copy or your FAFSA and CSS profile to the information session, so they can check if you are eligible.

@Nothingmean00 you are right heop is very strict on income however, c-step is part of heop. Which is for kids with higher incomes but they must be from a minority group. I am still waiting for an email and I feel like I won’t get it. I don’t know how long interviews are.
