HEOP

Hey I was wondering what the HEOP interview at NYU is all about?

Wellllllllllll I went to it this year last month in February 7? I think? anyway they basically gave an overview of the heop program, how much they pay etc then you fill out 2 papers one was a evaluation of the way the information was presented and the other way personal academic achievements. Then you get called in a room to see if your missing papers or you’re good to go. THEN you have like a mini interview with other people and two interviewers they basically ask how will the heop program help you or why do you deserve it what’s your way of learning etc. Then they give you like a paper with a story and ask you what would you do in the situation mines was about a boy who has friends who didn’t go to college and was asked to come out and hang out while he has to do essays studying for midterms etc. Easy stuff, it’s very lean back and informal you’ll do fine
~ can’t wait to hear decisions!

Does anybody have any questions about the program?
I’m a freshman in HEOP

So if I didn’t get an interview, it means I’m not qualified for heop then?

You may not have submitted all the financial aid documents in time. That happens sometimes.

How do we check if they received all financials? i logged onto the NYU account & it says something like “award not accessible”, meaning they didn’t say they’re missing any financial aid documents. thanks for your reply btw- i appreciate it!

Usually, they call you in for an interview and if you’re missing a couple of documents, they ask you to send them. Also, I know some kids who didnt submit their financial aid at all and were not contacted by HEOP at all. At this point, they are making decisions, so I don’t think they are considering any more applicants.

I see, but I wasn’t missing any documents. I submitted my fafsa and css on time. not only on time, but also early.
if i had missing financial aid, they would have said i was missing them under my financial aid section for nyu albert right. idk why, but they wrote something like “award not accessible” so it doesn’t say i’m missing anything. That’s what i’m confused here

What also could have happened is that you are not being considered for HEOP. Maybe you’ll get in without HEOP. The award access thing was like that for me as well and didn’t change until after I got my acceptance.

Is it OK If. I private message you? I really appreciate your help

Definitely! No problem

Do you know if interviews still go on until late march? A couple of my friends and i haven’t still heard from them yet? Also when you got an email for the interview, approximately how many days later was the interview?

From what I have seen and heard, the last interviews were last week. HEOP starts sending out decisions on April 1st, so they stop interviews a week or 2 before that.
Also, my interview was 4 days after I got the email

My summer is basically split in half due to the HEOP program and I was supposed to go to Mexico july 1-14
The HEOP starts july 8- aug 8, do you think they’ll let me miss 6 days? I’ve called mercy college (where I got accepted) but they have not called me back! Help!
