here are my grades; good enough for hypms?

freshman year:
A A A A A
soph year:
A A A- A- A- A-
jr year:
A A A- A- A- A-
semester 1 of sr year:
A A A- A- B+ B+

8 honors and 13 APs

why did you even bother asking.

but incase you were looking for a more lucid answer… yes they are fine.
better than many others.

however, a downward trend doesnt look good.

You’ll be fine. No need to ask unnecessary questions. Stop acting so insecure.

agreed with teamam. stop fishing for compliments. anyways, if you’re a senior, you’ve already applied - what does it matter?

And I just went to your stats profile and looked at it. If those scores are accurate…wow! I would be surprised if you didn’t get into at least one of hypsm.

Hopefully you have the teacher recommendations, SAT scores, EC’s, leadership positions, a major hook, and extreme luck to go along with the grades.

They look great, but it is hard to say in a vacuum. What’s your class rank? And what’s the relative value of your grades compared to the same grades at other high schools, i.e., is your high school viewed as competitive or not? And then there’s the whole rest of your profile to consider together with your grades…

No use fretting while waiting out the answers to your apps. Keep up the good work and go have some fun! The spring of your senior year should be about figuring out who you really are and what you want out of the next four years so when you are looking at your choices on April 1, you’ll have a better idea of how to act on them.

And please make sure you’re spending a little time generating excitement for your fav backup school just in case HYPMS doesn’t pan out for you. Follow the school newspaper online, check out what bands are coming to town and what festivals dot the spring calendar, etc.

Good luck!

I’d say no. Those grades average out to an A- at best, which is not HYP material. And judging by this egomaniacal college list of yours you may not even get into college, much less HYP.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/641800-my-college-list-too-risky.html

Well obviously you already applied… so what’s the point of this? You want a few quick compliments for a list of letters?

If you were a Junior or Soph this would be ok… but for a senior who applied there already (If not whats your purpose with this?) I would hope you know by now admissions aren’t based on grades alone. Not even close to it. Perfect scores and 100% A’s get denied all the time.

okay so my school is public but it is considered a competitive public school…i’m in the top 2% or maybe even top 1% but my school doesn’t do ranking, so i wouldn’t know officially and neither would colleges…and yes i have good scores and ECs and summer activities and (maybe…who really knows?) recs.

=O wow 13 APs

No life. =)))

well that’s including senior year
so saying no APs frosh year, that’s an average of like 4 APs a year. not that unusual for a CCer =P

and yeah i know the downward trend is horrible…but really, grandfatherbob? is it really not HYP material? my school sends at least 5% of our class to ivies…although it is not always the top 20/400. add in MIT and stanford and other top schools it’s like top 15%.

that’s an unweighted of 3.8, and a weighted of like 4.6 =/

Dawnie Min, if not for ego fulfillment, why ask questions that you already seem to know the answer to? It’s that sort of activity that frustrates me about CC most.

because of answers like these =/

But that you then you responded with justifications and doubt is what I was referring to. I don’t want a pointless argument though, so I will now politely bow out.

huh? but okay…i mean, i’m not going to argue with you…

Verbal is basically saying that you’re fishing for compliments or an ego boost.

Of course you have a chance. You know that, I know that. And especially when you try to justify why you still have a chance to these schools when someone questions you makes me think you’re just being egotistical.

So why bother?

Arghh, sorry then. but i was just wondering if my justifications are … sensible? idk…
