<p>Hi guys, I've been on forums for a while now and the time is finally here to apply to college. I need some helpful advice from you guys regarding my chances, because I'm sure you've seen tons of these posts before. I've made some chances posts before, but this one is by far the most accurate and detailed.</p>

Asian American (way to start badly lol)
First generation college student
Income bracket (25K ish?)</p>

<p>AP Scores (I was sooo burned out by the end of junior year that I didn't study for any of them outside of school except for chemistry, which I still managed to do badly on lol):
AP Physics C Mechanics: 2 (NOT SUBMITTING LOL; I suck at physics can't deny that)
AP Spanish Language: 3
AP Chemistry: 3
AP Chinese Language: 5
APUSH: 5
AP Calculus BC/AB Subscore: 5/5</p>

<p>Work/Volunteer Experience:</p>

<p>Nursing home (9,10,11) ~200 hours
Volunteer peer tutoring after school
Club volunteer hours are around another 30-50 hours or so.
Work in school cafeteria (12) 15-20 min/day during lunch
Will start a part time job soon</p>

<p>Awards:
Honor Roll
NMSF (likely, above cutoff; likely finalist as well)
AP Scholar w/ Distinction</p>

<p>For the schools I want to apply to (chance me as if they are RD please):

<p>Probably strong essays and good (but not OMG, THIS STUDENT IS SOOO AMAZING IT'S SUCH AN HONOR TEACHING HIM) recs.</p>

<p>Other consideration: I am applying for the QuestBridge program (heard this was a good program) and if you guys can give me any advice on whether to use it for ED in the event that I happen to be a Finalist, that'd be great.
And to finish it off, thanks for taking your time to read this. I'm sure you're all very busy and I'd be thankful if anyone can provide some advice.</p>

<p>Your test scores are great, and it looks like you put in a lot of time into volunteering in high school. Just to give you a more accurate feedback, would you mind telling us your intended major and state? Or you can just PM me. </p>

<p>@siru95: My state is Arizona. I’ve heard that it’s easier to get in from certain states because of diversity, is that true? My intended major would be biology. Thanks for taking the time to respond :D.</p>

<p>It’s true that some states are less competitive than others like New York, Jersey, etc. I’d suspect Arizona is one of them. Haven’t met too many from there in college. </p>

<p>I think you’re good for Arizona, UNC, and UMich. The other schools will depend on the essay. Your ECs are similar with many other competitive applicants. </p>

<p>I think most of these schools are matches for you. You also have a decent shot at Harvard depending on essays and recs.</p>
