A related thought, not relevant to the issue of accreditation, is that as I reflect on the many "great" architectural achievements -- in particular the big buildings that are lauded for one or another aspect of their design on, say, the NY or Chicago cityscape, almost all of them are best known for their view from the outside, from the street so to speak. The interiors are seemingly irrelevant to their fame or image. Of course we know from our own experience how important the interior design is to the success of a structure (think of the Guggenheim Museum as just one example), but that's often not how big-time designers become known. But "interior architecture" is an important aspect of architectural design, and I think that must be what RISD is trying to promote by having a department that is separate from its architecture school (though apparently growing out of it and closely related to it).

Hate to revive an ancient thread, but could someone explain why, in California, many of the CSU campuses are NASAD accredited, but none of the UCs are?

Thanks!
