To all of you who are taking handfuls of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication, while chugging a bottle of booze, waiting for the “Royalty” (admissions officers) to make their decisions, I talked to the secretary of the Dean of admissions yesterday (Friday), and she read me their timeline. It goes as follows:

***Week of March 13th - Brown selects the finalists…

***Week of March 20th - Brown selects admitted applicants from pool of finalists.

***Week of April 3rd - Brown posts decisions online.

***Week of April 10th - Brown sends out letters to all applicants.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions about the above info, I really don’t know anymore than what I just posted. That’s all the info they gave me :)

they dont tell us on the first.. dissappointing...

yeah.. i cant spell.

She told me the week of the April 3rd, give or take a day or two...

She said that even though they have seen a dramatic increase in applications this year, they (admissions) were doing their best to remain on schedule.

that's odd...because on the Brown website, it says that the decisions are mailed March 31st, and I thought they'd be posted that night too, based on what people have been saying...

http://www.brown.edu/Administration/Admission/applyingtobrown/importantdates.html

Maybe this is for transfers?

And I thought the dean of admissions was Michael Goldberger?

I talked to Anne Swartz...she is the secretary for the admissions. She stated that if they can get back on schedule, they will go on the timeline that is posted on Brown's website. If they remain behind schedule, they will follow the timeline as posted above. I apoplogize for any confusion I may have caused. I just thought I would pass along information that was told to me.

lol...wouldn't you know it. The one time I decide to post information on these message boards that was given to me by Brown, it starts a "firestorm"...I guess that's just my luck :)

Ha, well, can you blame people for being anxious about anything that delays admission decisions?

Absolutely not. I don't think my fingernails can be chewed down anymore...I'm already tired of waiting :)

Well regardless, I'm going to start checking the website March 30th, and just keep clicking "refresh" until something shows up... :p

lol...that's good, Calidan. I guess I'll have a cup of coffee or a case of Red Bull sitting next to the computer and just stare at the screen from March 30th and on...

I was already planning my obsessive checking habits but this adds a new perspective. Why do we have to wait longer? It is already too stressful. I want them to just pick quickly. I guess that picking quickly wouldn't be good thing for most of us but waiting an extra week is going to kill me.

They fell behind schedule due to such a massive applicant pool this year. I guess they weren't prepared for such an incline of applicants scurrying to get into Brown. It's possible that they'll get back on schedule... and then on March 31 some of us will either celebrate or stock up on Prozac, depending on your outcome.

I might stock up on Zanex just in case.

Gulp we go through a finalist and THEN another admit process? faints

i wish i could go into hibernation

They pick "finalists" and then pick the admitted applicants from the pool of finalists. However, no applicant knows if they are a finalist are not. You are only informed if you have been accepted or denied.
