Here is the best vocab books/sites for SAT I

Because i have seen a lot of people who want to know what book has good vocabulary, i have compiled a bunch of places

By using these, i have done well on the vocab sections-i missed avg of 1 SC and 2 Analogies (damn critical reading....)

First, get Hot Words for the SAT I, by Linda Carnavale (however you spell it)
It is by Barrons-I have found that like an avg of 3-10 of the words in this book are in each test...that is pretty good

Then, go to <a href="http://www.sparknotes.com%5B/url%5D">www.sparknotes.com</a> and get the 1000 most common SAT words-these help A LOT!-avg of like 4-12 are on the test

go to this site, and print out this list, its 100 most common SAT words:

<a href="http://www.quia.com/servlets/quia.activities.common.ActivityPlayer?AP_rand=1730334727&AP_activityType=1&AP_urlId=1527&gameType=list%5B/url%5D">http://www.quia.com/servlets/quia.activities.common.ActivityPlayer?AP_rand=1730334727&AP_activityType=1&AP_urlId=1527&gameType=list</a>
I have found that an avg of 3-10 words are on the test

Then, from the PR book, do the 100 or so words in their Hit Parade..
i have found that about an avg of 2-6 words are on the test.

Good luck to you all! im done with the SAT I!! took it three times! finally got a decent score (stupid reading comprehension...that is what kills me everytime..)

of course..this is if anyone cares...just trying to help...

you dont really need vocab for the new sat... usefull for the ppl taking the old one htough, i guess. i took the new psats w/o any vocab preparation, but i read a lot. even so, you can put it together through context.

thanks neelesh. You might want to put WordSmart up there too. That's a good one

I agree with Wicksmaaht. Word Smart is THE book to use to study vocab.
Barrons "Hot Words for the Sat" was also excellent.
After studying the two, I knew every word that came up on the November sat administration.

Another vote for Word Smart....definitely the best one.
