Strong essays and letters of recommendation from teachers and counselor.

Pretty good shot I would say, but did you take any SAT subject tests? I feel like engineering schools would want around two of those exams in some sort of stem subject. Of course, I’m not sure if the 1510 translates to exactly after the SAT changes, but I would assume it would be in lower quartile of scores of the accepted students( correct me if I’m wrong). However, you have a solid shot I’d say, especially if you ED.

1510 is within the center of the middle 50th%ile for the most recent ED round, so it’s a solid score. APs are good, especially the 5 on calc BC, and so are grades and rank. ECs are solid as well, got some good leadership, long-term commitment, and accolades in there. I suppose you could take SATIIs as mentioned above, but I don’t think it’d be worth it since you’re about to submit in like a week, and the recommended last SAT date was October, so it’s not too likely that the committee will see them. Feel free to take and send them if you want to have them as a precaution in case you don’t make it in ED and need to apply to other schools.

Overall, very good chances I think. You’re not an automatic admit, but you are competitive in the ED class profile. Just make sure that recs and essays are good and well-polished, since from here it just depends on the subjective interpretation of your app.

I did take the Math II SAT Subject test as a junior, my score was 750. I decided not to send it since the score was too low (62 percentile). I guess I could retake it in December (the November registration deadline has passed) as a precaution in case I do not make it to Vandy. My plan B is to apply to Univ of Chicago for ED2 - hopefully I won’t need to…

@Hodor1 I would definitely send the Math 2 score. Don’t get caught up in the percentiles because even at a 800 it is the 80th percentile I think. The reason for this is that most students taking the SAT Math 2 are very smart to begin with. Send the 750. It is great.
