Here's something that will be misrepresented in the US: Finland to stop teaching Math!

Expect the education “specialists” and test-mongers to jump on this type of development. Of course, we should not expect those pundits to realize that the abandonment of teaching math and science in the later parts of the K=12 requires the students to have acquired solid bases in the … previous years. Bringing it all together under a more pragmatic umbrella does not mean that the contents are no longer important. Finland’s earlier revolution of its education system did create a different set of capable and respected teachers. Now they can reap the results of decades of efforts.

We, in the US, still have to realize how deep our problems really are in terms of literacy and numeracy in both K-12 and the 16-34 young adults group.
