"Here's Something to Make You Smile"

I never want to hear another president try to attempt a foreign language every again...

QFE. That's why someone invented translators....

geez, y'all take everything so seriously lol.

really extremely stupid in every way... if america goes isolationist, no one is going to miss it...

Wow. I'd move to Canada if this speech was really given. I know it was a joke, but reading it, with that in mind, still got me ****ed. :|

If we ever do go isolationist, come back and read this statement again.

To all those wonderful people criticizing me:

Understand that this will never happen, and that I'm completely aware of this fact.

It's a double satire. The people who helped write this are Iraqi civilians, Iraqi soldiers, and American soldiers. They all share a common idea: this war is stupid and pointless, I need to get out of here before I spill my blood for Bush.

I can't believe some of you quoted parts of this, and responded as if it had any intellectual or realistic merit.

Did you really believe that any of this could ever happen? Or that I believed any of this would work?

"If we ever do go isolationist, come back and read this statement again."

so who will miss america? well, the kosovars. can't quite think of anyone else.

Hmmm....if this were to happen, America would be screwed. I don't think people realize how much we need the rest of the world.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

This sentence always makes me want to puke. Why does it matter if I read it in English or Uighur? I'm not thanking any British soldier for oppressing my ancestors.

I can imagine a Spanish speaker writing, "Si estas leyendo esta oracion..."

I know the speech as a whole is satire, but so many people use this sentence, and it annoys me.

I know it's a satire, but it just reminds me that there are people out there who think like this. And that bothers me. I'm not saying that you think like this or anything, but there are people that do, and that is SAD. And I've heard some of these things said to me SERIOUSLY, and it sort of brings them back.

Thank you AeroEngineer3141. They really needed that.

What about all the countries that we import heavily from (ie China)? You honestly don't think they'd miss the millions of dollars that they make on exporting to the US?

Interesting.

I read all that and did not smile ONCE. AND IM STONED

Well, they will just have to find someone else to mooch off of.

Just Kidding.

What's truly sad is that if it had been Afghanistan first rather than Iraq the left would still condemn it! The vitriol would be just as vicious! The condemnation exhorted without forethought! Good intentions excoriated no matter the perceived justification! I personnally could care less what other countries think of us. I'm secure in knowing that our democracy believes in freedom for all! Whether we like it or not we are the arbitrator, the enforcer, the recompenser for the world! I'd rather answer that 911 call versus placing one!
