I’m in my senior year of high school and I’ve started applying to colleges. One of the schools on my list is the prestigious Cornell University. I fell in love with Cornell after my first visit there sophomore year. My dilemma comes in here. When you apply to Cornell, you have to choose a specific school. I want to apply to the College of Arts and Sciences, but I’m afraid I’ll get rejected, as CAS is supposed to be the most selective of all the undergraduate schools. To further complicate things, I also have an interest in engineering. I’ve heard different things about how difficult switching between colleges is, so I’m hesitant to choose. My school counselor advised me to apply to one of the less selective schools, but I feel like a fraud doing that. I have no intentions of going into business or hotel management.
I guess I won’t be heartbroken if I don’t get into Cornell, but at the same time, I would love to. It seems excellent in every course of study.
Any advice from current Cornell students? Or maybe suggestions for similar, but less selective colleges?
Shoot, sorry guys, I think I posted this is the wrong forum.
