Hesburgh-Yusko Essay Question - PLEASE HELP

Hi, so the Hesburgh-Yusko Scholarship is due in 9 days. I am almost finished, but I need input on the big essay:

Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C, once said, "The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision. It's got to be a vision you articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion. You can't blow an uncertain trumpet." What is your vision? How do you intend to make it a reality?* (500 word limit)

What exactly does the HY Board want to hear with this essay? Does it have to be a big vision that will impact the world? For example, a current HYS has a passion for a type of "blended" education by which she believes (and statistics show) children learn better/faster. Obviously, her vision/idea had/has a large chance to impact the entire world, particularly the education system.

My concern is I don't have any incredible ideas like her. I am passionate about a few things, but I do not believe I can affect most on an international scale. Please let me know what you think. Thank you so much.

For what it is worth, we know a few HY scholars. I can’t imagine any of them writing what someone else wanted to hear – they would very much have written a personal essay.

Personally, I would write about yourself. Not about what they want to hear as stated above. Much of what Notre Dame believes in is service to society through an education that Notre Dame can provide you. If you can find a way to influence the lives of others around you through the education that you can get at Notre Dame, no matter whether it is at the international / national / state / local / personal level, they want to know that you have a plan for the future.

Thank you @midwestmomofboys and @npswimmer44 so much. I am very humbled to have the opportunity to apply to the scholarship.
