Hesburgh-Yusko Scholarship

Hey everyone, I’m a class of 2020 early action admit at Notre Dame. I just got an invitation to to apply to the Hesburgh Yusko Scholars program at ND. It says I was refereed to the program by the admissions committee. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything more about this program. What it entails? How competitive it is? How many kids get refereed to the program by the admissions department? Does the fact that I got refereed mean I have a better shot? Any info helps. Thanks!

Congratulations. It is a very competitive program. They award scholarships to perhaps 18-25 students a year. There is a lengthy application process. Generally kids get referred by their high schools (and usually a max of 1 per school) but the ND admissions team can and does refer applicants as well. I do not know if you have a better shot, because it is a separate group reviewing the scholarship applications, but clearly the admissions team was impressed with you and your credentials. That says something. Best of luck! And again, congrats.
