I was given guaranteed transfer admission for next fall, and of course it’s tempting as BU is my absolute dream school. It’s just that I’m extremely nervous about having to put even more effort into acclimating, as I’d not only be moving from Colorado to Massachusetts, but also be a transfer student. I’m afraid of not having all the genuine freshman experiences and everyone already settling in by the time I arrive for next year. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of any kind with transferring schools or have any thoughts about BU and both the school and its student body and how helpful they are with welcoming transfers? Thank you!
My D is in same boat but from California. we are keeping her non-binding guaranteed transfer admission option open. I’m a bit concerned too about Freshman college experience being missed out on. But if it’s her dream school, then choosing the correct college for the 2015-16 Freshman school year is important so you can capture similar Freshman experience as a substitute. Like my D must have all that Division 1 athletic sports spirit, guaranteed housing, city center access, public transit access, Greek life if any, large alumni network, study abroad and internship options, and most importantly her film production program. It’s got be a close substitute that in the event she decides not to transfer to BU, she is happy with her college choice. After all, it is what you make your college experience to be is what counts. Its all about making new friends, maintaining current friendships, networking in your field of interest, and experiencing opportunities you didn’t have before.
