Hey, OC guy going to Yale in the Fall. I just joined this site. I was wondering if there was anyone from the SoCal area that has made their final decision to go to Yale?

It'd be nice to get to know a few of you before September Thanks!

You guys should attend one of the local alumni events that you will be invited to - they usually happen during the summer. The alum associations receive lists of students in the area who will be attending, and you'll hear from them. With luck, the timing of the event won't conflict with other summer plans, as it did for us.

You also should consider doing one of the Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trips that are offered -you'll be getting info about that as well. About a third of the incoming class participates in these trips which go from 4 to 6 days. You can choose which one to sign up for, and for how long. Even if you've never been backpacking before, they're a lot of fun, and they take your experience level into account when putting the groups together. You will come back from these with a bunch of good friends to start out the year.

You can see on your personal admitted students website the location of admitted students across the US. I saw that there are two in the Newport/Costa Mesa area.

Thanks for reassuring me. I should have checked before I sent the forms in. By the way, I'm from Agoura Hills (between Calabasas and Thousand Oaks). Maybe we'll be on some of the same flights to New Haven!
