Oh yea, here's the kicker... I am an asian male.
Where will I get into and what SAT score would I need to get.

ECs are weak, so right now VTech is your only match/safety school. UCLA and UC Berk are merit based so probably high match. Vanderbilt is also pretty high match. All the rest are definite reaches due to lack of strong ECs.

oh yea i live in Northern Virginia, go to a public school, and am a rising senior.

Ok but even so you’ll want to get that SAT up to around 2200.

Your title totally worked on me though I saw that coming.

Since you’re out of state, your chances for UCLA and UCB aren’t extremely great, especially since such a high majority of Asians apply there. I mean really, the Bay Area is just filled with Asians.

…Well, just listen to born2dance94, I guess. Probably actually knows what he/she is saying.

^gj

born2dance is prolly some ■■■■■

you should def apply to all of those, all reasonable shots UVA/VTech instate are locks in my opinion

@ kagami
What do you mean? I though UCs in general didn’t look at race in apps, hence so many Asians in UCLA and UCB.

UCs apply specific criteria in state for admissions and locals meet those conditions where race does nt apply. Out of state students are looked at separately.

Lol why would I be a ■■■■■? I gave him an honest chance. He does have a great shot at Virginia Tech. And he does have a great shot at UCs because they are merit based, and the others all have around or less than 20% acceptance rates so they are reaches.

I know a lot of people who get into Berkley and LA (I’m from Southern California and our school sends a bunch of kids every year to those schools). Your subject tests and GPA are decent. ECs are actually ok; UCs don’t really weigh ECs that heavily from the kids I’ve seen who’ve gotten in. But for UCB and UCLA, your SATs should be 2200+. And even with 2200+, a lot of kids get rejected =( BEST OF LUCK!!

@JoonBug812: Yeah, but they’re all about diversity. I know diversity doesn’t always apply to Asians, but…(>__<)

I will say that UCB and UCLA are a maybe but as others have said, get those SAT scores up to be a sure thing! As for the other schools, I too think your EC’s are weak. There is no depth. Maybe you can put together a real cool project as the NHS president next year and do something amazing for your tennis team or be all-state or something.

I am also asian and have nearly same as your sat score too. (1950)
