Besides completing pre-reqs and maintaining a high GPA, what did you do that got you into Berkeley ?

It's nothing special really. For me, blood-letting rituals under a full-moon helped. You don't have to go overboard; but sacrificing a goat here and there, invoking the name of Ba'al, all probably good ideas.

If your parents want to know what you're doing with all the livestock, just tell them they can thank you when you're paying for their retirement.

that's great advice lopside. Now, do you think the college gods would be more pleased with human sacrifice? Could that get me into Stanford? ;)

Seriously though, I was a high-school dropout who had D's and F's throughout most of my pre-collegiate academic career. I also totally withdrew from seven consecutive semesters at community college. So colleges are prepared to forgive lots of transgressions, so long as you make up for it.

As an English major, I followed IGETC and took the only UC Undergrad pre-req that was available at my CC. I earned straight A's for quite awhile, and worked full-time as I did it. Besides work, I had few extra-curriculars. It turned out to be enough. Good luck.

ps. for a list of classes offered by your CC that satisfy Berkeley undergrad requirements for your desired major, check Assist.org

The only thing I had going for me other than my GPA (3.92), was that I had to postpone school for two years in order to help out the family business. I wrote on that for the longer UC app essay, and that's probably what got me in. Other than, I work fulltime while going to class at CC.

I had no EC's...other than a lot of work experience?
