Hey can someone tell me how long the U of Chicago essay should be since they don't specify. I currently only have 117 lol and am shooting for around 250 words. This is how long one of Uom's essays is that I did. Is this still not enough? By the way, I am doing essay #3.

Spanish poet Antonio Machado wrote, “Between living and dreaming there is a third thing. Guess it.” Give us your guess.

Remember, at least two people are going to have to read it, and hundreds, maybe thousands, more. Have a little pity on them!

I wouldn’t get hung up on 250 words, but if you are going past 400-500 you had better have a darn good reason, and you should tell yourself over and over again that the longer your essay is beyond that length, the less effective it is going to be. The point is not to cram everything you might want to say into the essay. The point is to have a document that makes you seem smart and interesting, that makes people in the University of Chicago community want to get to know you better.

I would like to do 500 or 600 words but I’m currently stuck on 130 lol. This is really the only essay that I’ve had trouble with. I’m going to try, but I’ll try to make it better rather than long. At least they’ll see my Common App essays.
