I'm not a Bush supporter at all but I still have not seen ANY proof that Bush only got into Yale because of his money or lineage. If you can show me the stats of his classmates and that Bush's grades, GPA, etc all fall below that and the only thing to make up for that is money and his last name - then I can see the point.

gee... these comments are DRIPPING with sarcasm....

Thank you, Mr. President, for setting up the national standard for the SAT verbal and math.

Yet, you haven't actually made it official, since nobody can get into a decent college with those pathetic numbers of yours anymore...

ok.. enough ideologies, enough theories.
Now get into some actions, s'il vous plait.

Well, friends, the very purpose of the SAT is to have a scaled score that you can compare with other years...so, aside from rescale of 100 (which I think they changed) Bush is subpar.

you can compare it with recent years not way back when

This goes to show that SAT's arnt everything to get into a good school.

assuming the numbers are correct as stated, the V would be recentered scores to 640, while the math would be unchanged. Don't forget, Kerry's military record shows slightly lower scores that W.

anyone know what percentiles those scores are? th percentiles are a lot different then from now so they may not be THAT BAD

Ah, the arrogance of youth. As though a 1200 is that horrible of a score now, much less back then. And last time I checked, he is President. None of you are.

its bush...i dont think anyone expecting genius test scores from an idiot that can barely read his top advisors' speeches.

ExRunner, your post kind of rubbed me the wrong way (sorry)...love or hate the president, to make a blanket statement claiming that there is an inherent arrogance in youth is unfair. it is exactly this type of condescending attitude by adults that discourages youth from voicing their opinions openly.

okay, down off my soap box now.

also, while 1200 then wasn't the same score that it is now, it wasn't exactly stellar then either.

...I am 16 years old. I wasn't saying that all young people are arrogant. I was just commenting on the arrogance on this thread. Say what you want, but a 1200 is more than a whole standard deviation above the national average for high schoolers applying to college. I would say that is pretty solid especially considering that a 1200 then is more like a 1250-1300 now. And I'm neither a Bush supporter nor a "not exactly stellar" SAT scorer either.

Right or wrong, politics are all about money and name. In order to ensure winning a presidential election, one needs about 400 million (according to political scientists).

Most Presidents haven't been that smart, and this president is simply no different.

I doubt he needed high SAT scores thus not trying to hard on them. His main goal was probably towards presidency or some governmental job. I doubt he needed to try on a standardized test. And why are people judging success based on SAT's. when we're supposed to be preaching against it? I'm not with Bush. but I don't like this poost.

hmm maybe if the president scored 800 this thread would be a big deal but i have no qualms about the "intelligence" of a leader based on a 1260 SAT score...many VERY smart people have scored quite a bit lower than that. Bush is not dumb, he just makes bad decisions and a lot of what he does is more of the cabinet's fault.

I remember hearing that Bush got better grades at Yale than Kerry did.

hmm, i got better SAT scores than that. . . maybe i should try applying to yale ; )

1337 Where do you get 1260?

George W. Bush SAT Scores:
Verbal: 566
Math: 640

566+640=1206 NOT 1260

Bill Gates didn't attend college too much after President Bush.

Bill Gates SAT scores:

"According to a press inquiry he scored 1590 on his SATs[5],"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates

So Bill Gates here applied to college a few years after our President yet he actually got good scores.

Look at him now. Making MUCH MUCH more money than the President. Maybe we should have him as our President. I doubt he could do a worse job than Bush.

george bush is a good president you tree huggers. Ya khnow whate, just bekause you guyses are the smarttie pants dosetn meany you gota be a libel, o-NESTLY! I love georgey boyd.

Sat scores mean absolutely nothing after high school.
I mean classifying people by Sat score on whether they are intelligent or not is not only low, but simply because its only a number.

I dont like President Bush but even if he is an idiot, his sat scores didnt exactly get him into Yale or get him to become president.
