hey guys..another chances post..but from a transfer

hey guys Im a student from Vanderbilt and im finding more and more that this place isnt really fitting me. Im a second semester soph. and yes I know that its kinda late to be figuring this out but hey...to each his own. Anyway, I visited Washu to see a friend and I was quite impressed. I just really liked the atmosphere and people. I was wondering if you guys could give me a rundown about my chances based on my stats

Major: Political Science
Minor: Philosophy

GPA:3.413 (sigh..first semester freshman year..) My first semester was a mess but Ive made Dean's List every semester henceforth if that helps
SAT: 1490/1600
Teacher recs: im sure I can get great ones just like every other applicant out there..haha
Activities: -was hall representative freshman year for InterHall which represents the dorms in terms of what we need, making ourselves heard in terms of activities planned, etc.
-Im a small group leader for a Christian group on campus but im not sure how much that weighs in for transfer considerations
-Im on the Vanderbilt Mock Trial team (heading up to Washu for regionals in fact)

im not sure what else to put...my essays will be good...and ill have all my forms in order...so if you guys could give me your input?
My friend who recently transferred there from Vanderbilt told me that apparently they really respect our institution and therefore was a bit easier to get in. Hopefully thats the case. Anyways, thanks for the time everyone

Hard to say. Really don't know what WashU looks for in transfers...

Anyway, your SATs are well above WashU's median. Vandy is a well respected school, and your 3.4 GPA and Dean's list status proves you can do college level work at a rigorous university. The fact that you screwed up in your very first semester, then got your act together thereafter is probably a plus. Shows you have fortitude, persistence, etc.

I can't judge your chances, but I'd say go for it. Academically, I think you'd fit without any problem.

thanks i really do appreciate the reply

I think you have a good chance!
Can I ask you why you feel that Vandy is not for you?

Vandy is great. The people here are very nice, the campus is beautiful and my interaction with my Profs have been great. Most of my reasons are personal but nothing that would reflect poorly against the university, mostly just personal (social, location, etc.). If you have any other questions just pm me and ill be happy to answer.

any other opinions? thanks in advance

I think you have a decent chance. Your GPA will be lower than their average transfer GPA, but it seems like you have everything else intact.

cool cool
thanks green

Yeah, i think you'll get in!

thanks gpeso!
