I'm a first year student and UNC and I wanted to see if my schedule looks alright to you:

Econ 101 (Turchi) <-I heard this guy was hard as heck
Chem 102 (Spremulli)
Chem 102L (Volaric)
English 123 (Shaw)
Anthropology 101 (I forgot)
Physics 100 How Things Work (Clegg)

I'm taking Econ for fun so I don't want it to be the class that kills my GPA.

I had Turchi for Econ 101 Honors and I really liked him. He might be different with a big lecture class, but he was a really great professor. He’s probably the most thorough of the econ professors and teaches it really well. He is tough, but I don’t know how that compares to the others.

You have a challenging but totally doable schedule IMO. Med-oriented (bio-chem) labs at UNC are generally considered as much work as 3hr courses. You have 16hrs? If so, and the semester gets to crazy – you can always pass/fail or drop a course. In my experience, its a lot harder to keep a high GPA and try to bring up bad grades than to not have them on your record in the first place.

Yeah, that’s pretty doable. Chemistry and physics are the hardest, but if you like those sciences then it might not be that bad. Econ 101 is SO much information to cram, but its not too hard to get by with a B in it. General anthropology and 100 level english aren’t very hard. Overall, it’s a pretty good balance.
