HEY GUYS! let's prep together

AP English Language & Comp.

First, just some questions for you:
1. How do you usually tackle the MC?
2. Any tips for essays?

I know it's kinda late, but I ordered Cliffs and 5 steps to a 5
Earlier in the year, I used AP English Language & Composition for Dummies (hahaha...) and Princeton Review. Oh, and btw, what other APs are y'all taking?? What prep books do you use?

According to my teacher, for the essays, it's much better to break out of the typical 5 paragraph structure, but it's SO hard for me to. Like if I didn't do a typical 3-part thesis, I don't know what to write X_x it's horrible, but yeah, give me some pointers? ::D

It's so hard to find resources for the AP Lang test /:
What books have you guys read in class?

For the multiple choice do you read the question first, THen read/annotate the prompt, or the opposite?
For the SAT, I was taught to read the questions first and then refer to the passages, but I've heard that that approach doesn't swing well for the AP Lang exam. What do you think?

12 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by 12 days, do you mean 19?

Oh shoot. You’re right

For the read/answer as you go technique:

I’m thinking you should answer some as a you go, like rhetorical/literary/grammatical things. But you should leave everything else (anything purpose, tone) until the end once you have gotten the tone of the passage for sure.

i always like to read first, and try to understand the passage.

With the essays I feel rhetorical analysis is the worst. My teacher gave us a practice essay with synthesis today and i wrote a solid essay, only using the minimum 3 documents. Sometimes I feel just forcing in documents ruins the essay. And the quote one is pretty easy BS.

What’s some good advice regarding the rhetorical analysis?

Okay, right now I’m just answering questions as I read along and at the end, I answer the questions about the overall theme, tone etc.

And for rhetorical analysis, I just make sure that I know the definition of rhetorical strategies.
