Hey guys!

So I have a question, and so I thought "who better to ask it to than the good people of CC?" So here goes!

So, I would love to attend MIT (who wouldnt), but my sophomore grades were a tad on the "bleh" side. About a 3.5 to be honest. Im ashamed of it, but this was before I really knew I wanted to become an engineer. After I had that realization, I got a 4.0 in my junior year with mostly AP and honors classes, and I ended up scoring a 2300 on my SATs (760 writing, 740 critical reading, and 800 math). I have a bunch of extracurricular stuff too, but my main question is if you think that my sophomore grades are too low to make up for?

I only wish I had my little epiphany a year sooner, haha ;)

Oh, if this is badly written, im sorry, its flipping late here and Im tired :p

No it's alright! Don't worry! One year can't hurt at all! Moreover grade-wise your transcript shows an upward trend ... so that's nice!

Oh man, adrivit, you dont know what a releif that is. I really thought I had no chance of attending those top-tier schools because of those sophomore grades.

Cheers!!!!!

Ok, so first, let's not make a 3.5 GPA something to be ashamed of =P. A 3.5GPA is a really, really good GPA - perhaps not MIT-worthy, but definitely good.

Back to the point of this post, admissions will look at the improvement and will see how awesome you are /now/. I don't think it'll hurt that much ;).
