I fell in love with Brown as soon as they sent me that first brochure. Unfortunately, the more I researched it, the more I realized there was no way on this green earth that I was going to get in. I keep trying to discourage myself and say it’s not going to happen and Brown isn’t that great of a school, but gosh darn, I keep coming back to it and the more I come to these boards, the more I love it. Yes I know, major run-on sentences, but I blame Brown. It makes me grammatically incapable! Anybody else having this problem?

thats soo funnie.. yea i definitely know how you feel... i mean i've sent everything in.. but i feel soo, let's see.. whats the word... inadequate!! i feel like i have no chance of getting in whatsoever.. i feel soo insecure right now.. ::sniff sniff::

confidence complex? You stand a shot, and you have some hook - your job is just to convey it to Brown in your application. You don't have to have perfect scores, grades, or Olympic extracurriculars, it could be your great personality, our rubber-band collection, or your environmentalist passion that can make Brown want YOU on their RI campus. Give it a shot!

Ugh... Brown- you're killin' me! The anxiety is the worst, for me. :o

i wish an adcom would have lived with me for a month and just see who i really am. that way, i wouldnt have needed to complete the application, and would have been sure they knew my personality. after all, actions do speak louder than words.:)

gianievve...you are right.
Think about it. MOST of the applicants that apply to Brown and all other top, prestigious schools have some sort of good grades and test scores.
With that, your job is to set yourself apart from all other applicants. Believe me, as good of grades as each person has, there will be 1,000 other applicants with even better grades.
So, the object is to get yourself noticed by these schools by standing out, albeit volunteer work, job experience, special talents, etc. etc. etc.
As much as all elite schools want their entering class to show academic excellence, they want to have as many diverse students, each with their own special skills and talents, as possible.
That makes for a more successful atmosphere, on and off campus.

Yeah, I'm not feeling quite as down as when I posted this originally, but I still feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up too much, just to have them dashed. I'm odd; I'd prefer to be pleasantly surprised then crushed like Paris was on Gilmore Girls (for those of you who watch the show).

I Love Brown...:)

Is it just me or is February just made for anxiety? Not quite close enough, but not much more we can do...I suddenly get these feelings that I love all my schools but I won't get into ANY of them. :(
