Hi~everyone~! University of Wisconsin -madison and university of illinois at urbana-champaign, which one is better, if i want to study in business. I am a resident in NYC. As i want to go away, i applied to uw-madison and uiuc. They are my top-two choices. Luckily, i got accepted by both. But you know it is hard to make a decision between these two similar great universities.
My major will be actuarial science, which is a business major. Which one has the better programs in business?
Though i want to visit them, i don't have money to do so. Considering the environment and housing and everything else, can someone give me any advices?
I always appreciate your help!!!!!

Congrats on your acceptances. :)

Have you received your financial aid packages from either school? I don’t think either of them is generous to out-of-state students. Since you say that you don’t have money to visit, I’m guessing that you don’t have the money to pay to go to these schools.

Did you receive any scholarships from them?

Both are good bus schools.

I can’t speak about which has a better business program, but I can give you some information on the environment in Madison (where I live). The campus life is active, and it is known as a party school. However, there are many serious students here that don’t get involved in the party scene. There are many opportunities in the greater-Madison in terms of jobs/internships and volunteer opportunities. Milwaukee is only 1 1/2 away, and Chicago is 2 1/2 hours away. The weather here is great if you like snow (it is all melted now, though).

the schoolarship thing does not come not yet. i heard they are both with low financial aid to out-state studnets, but i don’t care so much. i just want to make sure my college life is perfect in both entertainment and academic.

Thanks to you all~!!!

Wisconsin>>>Illinois. The state is much more beautiful, especially the areas where the two schools are located.

If you want to have fun and get a great education, go to Madison.

If you want the classic college experience, go to Champaign.

I’d personally go to U of I.

What’s not “classic” about the U of Wisconsin experience?

which one has more opportunities and interesting professors and clubs?

Both are excellent schools overall. However, Madison is a much better college town, IMHO.

As far as studying actuarial science, while often listed as a business degree, it’s really more of an applied math major. You’ll get a fine education at either school, but once again, UW is probably your better option - considered one of the top schools in the field. The Society of Actuaries has it listed as one of only 13 Centers of Actuarial Excellence.

“Each school met specific requirements related to degree, curriculum, graduate count, faculty composition, graduate quality, appropriate integration, connection to industry, and research/scholarship. The designation is awarded for a five year period subject to continued conformity to the CAE criteria.”

ohhhh~ Thank you so much~! Your information helps me so much~!!!
