Hey, it's not another chance thread!

...except it totally is. Hah, I know y'all are sick of these, I'm sorry. But hey, why not.

I was deferred from Columbia ED, so now I'm working on applications to most of the other Ivies along with Barnard, GW, and NYU.

Stats:

SAT: 2240
SAT IIs: Literature, 790 & U.S. History, 760
GPA: 104.4/100.0
Rank: 2/214
Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Commended Scholar, Nation Hispanic Scholar
APs: World History, English Language, Human Geography (5s): Calculus AB, Psychology, U.S. History (4s), Calculus BC (3) [didn't send in that score lol]
Also, I'm taking AP Environmental Science, AP Government, AP Macro Economics, and AP English Lit this year.

Subjective:

Essays: Main essay about my overcoming of an eating disorder, and how it led to finding strength and solidity in myself; short essay about my activities in Interact and this art festival we put on every year called Goodstock
ECs:
National Honor Society/u
Interact/u
Academic UIL/u (state alternate in Ready Writing sophomore year, district champion in Ready Writing junior year, Literary Criticism district champion sophomore/junior year)(lettered)
Athletic Trainer/u(trained football and basketball)(lettered)
Teacher Recs: One from English teacher who's been my NJHS/NHS head and personal friend, one from my government teacher.
Counselor Rec: Pretty amazing, she really went out of the way to state my passion for knowledge and my ambition, motivation, etc., as well as my involvement with the community and pleasant demeanor and everything.
Peer Rec: Just gave it to my close friend Adrian yesterday, so we'll see. He and I are diametric opposites; I read Dostoevsky for fun and think that Dickens is incredibly easy to understand, while he thinks literature is pointless and taught himself multi-variable calculus when he was 16. Yet somehow, we're the best of friends. So it should be interesting.

^HEY AMAZING  nice to see you on the Dartmouth board!

I hope you get into Dartmouth! Your applications seems strong  but we can never predict admissions

NEBBS! Haha yeah, thought I should start posting outside of our dearly loved Columbia forum. Also I just like to talk, online forums were pretty much designed for me. :P

Thanks! (: Since there’s no additional writing, I’ve actually already submitted my application. So now we play the waiting game.

Yeahh, I realize the futility in these chance threads. It’s just fun to put your stats out there, to compare and for posterity and everything.

I’m from Texas, so I’ll bite.

I think your essay about the eating disorder may have screwed you over if it wasn’t done tastefully. That’s a very sensitive topic that has to be tread upon lightly. Otherwise you seem like a great candidate for Columbia, and I have a hard time understanding why they would defer you.

Thanks! But yeah, that’s what I’ve begun to kind of fear. /:

Would anyone mind reading it? I think that people who know me personally wouldn’t be able to give as accurate/impartial of a judgement. I still have a couple weeks to write a new essay if need be, but the sooner I start, the better.

PM it to me

Mmkay, will do. Thanks, I appreciate it.
