So I've recently decided to go for my BS in anthropology on top of my BA in RCAH (it seemed to make more sense than going for 2 BAs). I want to work in museums and I figure the BS and the BA will give me a bit more flexibility.

I need to take 3 more classes from the Natural Science college. I am currently considering: ENT 205 (I think this will be a really good foundation course for museum preservation), HNF 150, and ZOL 446.

Are there any NSC classes that people would recommend? I am good at math and science in general, but I don't particularly enjoy them. I do enjoy environmental science, genetics, some non-chemistry based nutrition things, and zoology. I do NOT like physics and chemistry (at least what I experienced in high school- I am open to trying new things though). I never took ISB nor ISP (AP credits), so I've never actually taken a math nor science class at MSU.

I don't mind if a class is a blow off or a hard class, as long as it's interesting and enjoyable.

Suggestions? Thanks!

I heard developmental bio is a kick. How about animal behavior? Not sure of the course #'s, but both are ZOO’s. ZOO 341 is genetics. Too bad you can’t take any canr classes, animal sci is so much better than zoology! heh:)

^ Lol. CANR? Goes and googles it Ah, got it. I’m actually in a CANR class right now (PRR 302). Unfortunately, it doesn’t count for anything other than my own personal enrichment :(. lol.

Thanks for the suggestions- I will definitely look them up and make sure that they fit into my BS degree. I clicked on the link that showed me all the classes I could take. There were over 800 o.O, lmao.

I would think that Geology (aka Rocks for Jocks) would be very useful, especially with respect to understanding the processes underlying fossils, carbon dating, and all kinds of things associated with digging.

Sounds like fun.

Hmm, interesting idea Classic, I had never thought about that. I will definitely look into seeing if they have geology classes that have a focus on those types of issues (dating, fossilization, etc).

Thanks!

So I think I’m (un)officially going for my BS.

The courses I’m working on are:
For sure:
-ENT 205 (about pests… good for museums)
-GLG 434 (about paleobiology… good for archaeology)

And then two from: (yeah, realized I needed to take 4, not 3 courses):
-ZOL 141 or 341
-ZOL 310
-ZOL 446
-ZOL 396

Anyone know anything about any of these? Lol.
